Jinna Kang

Jinna Kang is licensed to practice law in California, Washington D.C., and Texas, and is a California Certified Family Law Specialist, having dedicated the last 13 years of her practice exclusively to family law matters. Jinna Kang is one of only three board certified Family Law Specialists in California with Korean language fluency. She is also the first of only two Korean speaking fellows of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

Ms. Kang truly cares about her clients, and cares about their quality of life not only during but also after their cases. She will not litigate for the sake of litigating, but rather will listen to each client’s needs and determine the most efficient and effective course of action, whether that be litigation, formal mediation, or out-of-court settlement.

Ms. Kang is active in the Los Angeles legal community, where she often lectures on family law matters and volunteers her services to assist victims of domestic violence. She earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her law degree from Southwestern.

International Experience

Setting her apart, Ms. Kang has extensive experience handling cross-jurisdictional family law issues, including issues regarding parties’ assets, debts, and children—not only in other states, but also abroad.

She is well connected with family law specialists in Korea and is thus uniquely poised to handle family law issues that may relate to Korea, Korean culture, and/or Korean language. In addition to representing clients in her capacity as an attorney, Ms. Kang has also served as an expert witness in cases involving the intersection of California and Korean family law and the related cross-jurisdictional issues.

Ms. Kang is also experienced in immigration law (where she began her legal career in 2000) and is acutely aware of immigration issues that other family law attorneys might not be. Ms. Kang can assist clients facing complex international issues alongside their dissolution or other family law matters.

Ms. Kang is fluent in Korean and conversant in Chinese and Spanish. She has been featured on a number of Korean radio and YouTube programs concerning a variety of legal topics. Since 2009 Ms. Kang has authored a legal blog called “Attorney Kang’s Family Law Story” on North America’s most popular Korean American website, MissyUSA.

Ms. Kang has extensive experience handling domestic violence matters. In her career, Ms. Kang has assisted countless victims retained by her firm in obtaining restraining orders. She has lectured on the topic alongside respected judges and specialists and has also donated much of her time to the Domestic Violence Project of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, where she began assisting victims in obtaining domestic violence restraining orders on a pro bono basis in 2013. Up-to-date Knowledge of the Law

Ms. Kang is serious about keeping up with the ever-changing landscape that is the law. She is always aware of current laws and procedures through her regular attendance of continuing education seminars throughout Southern California.

Complex Matters

Ms. Kang has extensive experience in complex property division cases. Many of Ms. Kang’s cases involve forensic accountants, whether it be to value community businesses, trace separate property contributions, or analyze cash flow for determining income available for support.
